What's the difference between a keyword and a subject in the library catalog?

A keyword search includes multiple fields (author, title, etc) and accepts "natural language," while a subject search searches only subject fields, using very specific terms.

A keyword search is more forgiving but a subject search is more precise.

A good strategy is to start with a keyword search, find a relevant book, and click the subject links attached to that book to find more like it.
