Answer

You can find MSDS by searching Google.  Good search terms are “free msds”  or msds with the specific chemical.  (msds chlorine).  See a couple of links below.

Where to find MSDS on the Internet

www.ilpi.com/msds/ - Free users can search, save and print MSDS documents by product.  Be sure to select the "MSDS Search" checkbox.

For online tables of chemical physical properties see Knovel Critical Tables http://www.knovel.com/web/portal/basic_search/display?_EXT_KNOVEL_DISPLAY_bookid=761

The library also has a standard handbook that will provide physical characteristics of chemical, but it is only available in print.  The CRC Handbook of Chemistry and Physics is shelved in the Reference section at call number REF QD 65 .H3 2010.  Previous editions of this book are available in the General Collection and can be checked out.

The following reference books will also list physical properties of chemicals:

Kirk-Othmer encyclopedia of chemical technology.  [Reference TP9 .K54 2004]

Van Nostrand's encyclopedia of chemistry.  5th ed. Hoboken, N.J. : Wiley-Interscience, c2005  [Reference QD4 .V36 2005]

You might also search Scifinder Scholar, a library subscription database that covers all areas of chemistry, including organic, inorganic, biochemistry, applied chemistry, and chemical engineering.
NOTE: to use SciFinder you must register. Registration is free, but you must use your unca email account.  Access the registration page from the library catalog at http://wncln.wncln.org/record=b2150329~S3

Once you have registered you may search the database at https://scifinder.cas.org

Scifinder works better if opened in  Mozilla FireFox. Use the help screens for assistance with the database.
