If you are having issues with any of the computer workstations in Ramsey Library or with the laptops we check out from our Circulation Desk, please let us know at the Circulation Desk or the Research Desk.

Problems with your own personal computer can be addressed at the IT Service Desk Walk-In Center, located in Ramsey Library Room 118 (just beside the Research Desk). The IT Service Desk Walk-In Center provides free, basic software technical support to all UNC Asheville students. The Desk is staffed by UNC Asheville students and mentored by Information Technology Services staff. Typical services provided at the IT Service Desk Walk-In Center include assistance in removing malware/viruses, help connecting to the campus wireless network, and troubleshooting operating system and application problems. The IT Service Desk Walk-In Center does not provide hardware support. If they determine that your issue is hardware related then they will refer you to a local repair shop or your computer's manufacturer/vendor for warranty support.

For online, self-guided help with campus wifi/networking, including how to access UNCA's guest wireless network, please refer to this page. If you have further wireless access issues, get help in person from the IT Service Desk in one of the following ways:

The IT Service Desk Walk-In Center in Ramsey Library Room 118 (just beside the Research and Technology Desk).

The IT Service Desk also offers assistance on a per appointment basis for more complex problems. You may contact the IT Service Desk at 828.251.6445 or helpdesk@unca.edu.

More details about the IT Service Desk, as well as other tech help information, can be found on the IT Services for Students webpage. You can sign up for an appointment with the IT Service Desk using this Google Form.

Finally, the IT Service Desk Self-Help Portal is also available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The self-help portal allows you to request assistance from ITS via a simple web form.
