If you are having trouble accessing one of the library's databases, here are some things to try first:

  1. Make sure you are accessing the database directly through the library either through our Online Resource Page or via our Books and Media search (center of page).
  2. Try another browser than the one you are using (i.e., if you are using Chrome, try Firefox or Internet Explorer). Try reloading a couple of times, and check to see if there is a browser extension (e.g., adblocker) interfering.
  3. If you are off-campus and get an error message when attempting to log-in, try both authentication methods (either the OnePort Username [prefix only: leave off the @unca.edu] and password, or name and RockyCard number). Also, make sure the two fields you are not using are empty.

If you are still having issues, contact the library (828-251-6336/libref@unca.edu) so we can troubleshoot with you and see if there is a system-wide problem.

If you're off-campus and are usually able to connect, the problem may be a temporary problem between your ISP (internet service provider) and our system. This can usually be cleared up by clearing your cache and shutting down your browser.  If you continue to have trouble after reopening your browser, contact us and we'll troubleshoot the specific problem.
